Massage Therapist
About
Shelley is a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist with over 10 years of experience in the massage therapy industry. Across a decade of clinical practice, she has built a genuine passion for helping people improve their health, mobility and overall wellbeing through professional, personalised treatment.

Shelley takes a holistic approach to massage therapy, considering the whole person rather than focusing solely on the presenting symptom. She believes that physical health, lifestyle, stress levels and overall wellbeing are all closely connected, and that each of these factors plays an important role in the body's ability to heal and function effectively. This perspective shapes every consultation — Shelley takes the time to understand not just where a client is sore, but what else might be contributing to that pain or tension.

Shelley views massage therapy as a valuable and meaningful part of self-care. Beyond the immediate relief it provides, she sees its role in reducing stress, easing the muscle tension that so often accompanies joint dysfunction, and supporting the broader treatment and management of common musculoskeletal conditions. She is just as committed to helping clients develop a greater awareness of their own bodies as she is to providing hands-on relief — believing that clients who understand what is happening in their body are far better equipped to take an active role in their own healing and long-term wellbeing.

Throughout her career, Shelley has worked with a genuinely wide range of clients, assisting with pain management, injury recovery, muscle tension, postural issues and stress relief. Her approach is always centred on understanding each client's individual needs and circumstances, and providing tailored treatment that addresses the underlying causes of discomfort rather than simply treating symptoms in isolation. No two clients receive exactly the same treatment, because no two clients carry tension, stress or injury in exactly the same way.

Shelley is committed to helping every client she sees achieve lasting results in a professional, caring and supportive environment. Whether a client is recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply seeking to improve their physical wellbeing, her goal remains the same: to help people move better, feel better, and enjoy a healthier, more active life through effective remedial massage therapy and genuinely dedicated client care.
Clinical Approach
Shelley draws on a diverse range of treatment methods, selecting the techniques that are most appropriate for each client's specific presentation rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Her treatment toolkit includes Myofascial Release (MFR), used to address restrictions in the connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles; Deep Tissue Massage and Soft Tissue Massage, applied to release chronic tension and improve the quality and mobility of the muscle tissue; and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), which use the client's own muscle contractions to improve joint position and release tight, guarded muscles.

Trigger Point Therapy is a key part of Shelley's practice, used to identify and release the specific points of hyperirritable muscle tissue that are frequently responsible for referred pain and persistent tension patterns. She also incorporates Lomi Lomi Massage — a flowing, rhythmic technique that combines deep tissue work with broader, more nurturing strokes — and cupping therapy, which she applies selectively for clients with dense muscular tightness or restricted fascial mobility that has not fully responded to manual techniques alone.

Shelley's treatments may also include breath awareness techniques, used to help calm the nervous system, reduce muscular tension and increase the client's awareness of their own body. This is a particularly valuable addition for clients who are managing high stress levels or whose muscular tension is closely tied to their nervous system state — encouraging clients to become active participants in their own healing process rather than passive recipients of treatment.

Shelley genuinely believes that massage therapy plays an important role in supporting overall health and wellbeing — not as an isolated indulgence, but as a meaningful contributor to how the body functions, recovers and copes with the physical and emotional demands of everyday life. This belief underpins every treatment plan she creates.
Specialist Areas
Shelley's key interests include the treatment and management of sports injuries, lower back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and hip pain. She has particular experience with gluteal tightness and pain, hamstring tightness, and knee and calf pain and tightness — areas that are frequently interconnected and benefit from a therapist who understands how tension and dysfunction in one region can affect another. She also works extensively with ankle and foot conditions and injuries, post-injury rehabilitation, and pregnancy massage.
Sports Injuries and Post-Injury Rehabilitation
Shelley has extensive experience supporting clients through the recovery process following sporting and musculoskeletal injuries. She understands that effective post-injury rehabilitation is about far more than simply releasing tight muscles — it requires an understanding of how the body compensates during recovery, where secondary tension and dysfunction commonly develop, and how massage therapy can support the broader rehabilitation process alongside other treatment. Her work with lower back, hip, hamstring, knee, calf, ankle and foot conditions reflects a genuine interest in supporting clients through the full body regions most commonly affected by sport and activity-related injury.

Lower Limb, Hip and Gluteal Tightness
Shelley has a particular interest in the treatment of gluteal tightness and pain, hamstring tightness, and knee and calf pain and tightness. These areas are commonly connected — tightness in the glutes and hamstrings frequently contributes to knee and lower back discomfort, and addressing the full kinetic chain rather than only the site of pain produces far more effective and lasting results. Shelley's treatment in this area focuses on releasing restriction, improving tissue quality and helping clients understand the movement and lifestyle patterns that may be contributing to ongoing tightness.

Pregnancy Massage
Shelley provides pregnancy massage for clients navigating the physical changes and demands of pregnancy. She understands the importance of safe, comfortable and appropriately adapted treatment throughout this period, and approaches each pregnant client with care and sensitivity to the unique physical experience pregnancy brings — supporting comfort, reducing tension and contributing to overall wellbeing at every stage.
